| Never leave an orange out while gone on a trip, a moldy orange fills the home with a terrible scent |
That's true for any fruit. Also, sorry to tell you dog lovers but, if you have a dog, your house smells like dog. If you have two dogs, it's twice as bad. As part of my job, I'm in at least two houses a day and sometimes, I can smell it before they even open the front door. |

Agree with above. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a house of dog owners where it didn’t smell
Like dog - even if it’s a “small, nonshedding” one like PP mentioned. |
Same! |
| I don’t get why people think that having pets doesn’t make their house smell. They always smell bad. And for a comparison. Take your small child on a walk in 90 degree weather and let them roll around in the grass. Now smell your kid and your dog - same nasty smell. |

Just went through this. Went to CA for a week, and just got back on Monday. Walked in and immediately thought "My house has a smell, that clearly I don't smell normally, and I don't love it."
We had a dog sitter, and perhaps she didn't open the windows as much as we do, but I don't think that has much to do with it. I think my house just has a darned smell. It's fine, not too bad, pretty neutral, but like I said, I don't love it. |
I have two dogs. My toy poodle, a "small nonshedding" dog, smells far worse than my larger mutt. |
Hmmm interesting. I don’t have pets and hate the dog smell. I esp hate the nasty kitty litter smell. But I have a few friends with pets, and they just are meticulous about having their cleaners come every other week and then they maintain the house in between visits. And I truly honestly cannot smell any dog. Nor cat. And I am allergic to both! |
This is the true mark of clean, can a pet allergic person spend time in your home without sneezing or getting short of breath. |
