Everyone got into DCI, even with feeder expansions, and so early!

Summary - there is only a few acceptable middle schools on above list for many families and chances are slim to get in. It’s the most competitive seat. You better have plan B and C

My criteria for "6th is an entry year" was any charter that made at least 10 matches. These days you basically have no shot at DCI for 6th unless you're already in a feeder.

We'll see. The only made 3 waitlist offers for 6th by June last year, and then no more after that. As IB numbers have gone up, they are having to be more cautious.

However, they also offered 10 fewer lottery spots this year than last. So there's still hope, they may just be waiting until they know for sure what feeder families are doing before offering any spots. And feeder families tend to keep their cards close to their chest because it's so complicated for kids this age.

If their number is bigger than 10, though, I wouldn't hold my breath. And everyone should have a solid back up plan.

Garrison made no offers K-5. They are getting popular and must be worried about space! Holding off to see IB enrollment?

I assume this varies school by school but does anyone have any inside info on when new (or K) IB families tend to enroll? I was talking to a family IB for a Deal feeder the other day whose kid is a rising K, and they were like, “oh, yeah, we haven’t enrolled him yet, we’ll get to that this summer at some point” and I was shocked. I guess I assumed most IB families enroll in the spring like everyone else but… I guess not!

Ross, Francis, Adams - 0 offers for 5th grades. This year's middle school lottery was brutal.

For all the people who want Francis you need to lottery into Thomson Elementary (feeder school for Francis) in 3rd or 4th grade. Looks like Thomson has 12 spots this fall for 3rd grade and 1 spot for 4th grade

Waste of time to fixate on these numbers when they will change drastically by August and schools with low number will clear the waitlist.

August numbers will be the most useful before school starts.

Principal Fraser seemed taken aback by the number of families who showed up to the admitted students night last night. Said it was by far their most ever. That they could easily fill 50% of the 6th grade with kids who showed up for a last minute Taco Tuesday seems like a great sign for the school.

More information about EPIC would help. It's been hard for me to find out how admissions works for EPIC.

I think that will be considerably more challenging. But also, a solution through middle school is enough for me right now, and I've been pleasantly impressed by our exposure to SH so far. (We have a rising 6th grader headed their next year.) We'll figure out HS when we get there. Worst case, we figure out how to pay for private.

We are at a feeder and know a few that chose Deal/ Hardy or went private.
