Teen wants to start as an umpire for baseball

Doesn't your rec league train the teens? Ours does, and they also pay $50 / game, which was about the going rate last I checked.

Our teens tend to be very busy, any given weekend they have conflicts, maybe other teens have nothing else going on.

My very busy teen learned to prioritize and say no to certain things. It's not going to end their "sports career" to miss 2 practices to get trained.

Why the shot at kids working?
FWIW, our umpire training occurs during the week and a sport 5 days a week, umpires once a week
