Semantics. There is literally no difference. Because it would still be sex BEFORE a second marriage or a third or fourth. |
No, idiot, not in the eyes of the Catholic Church. There is no second or third or fourth marriage in the eyes of the Church. There’s only the one. So any sex after that is “outside” of it. |
Yes those dirty sinners! Stay with that husband who abuses you. the church doesn’t want you to be happy if you leave him-your life should just be filled with perpetual sadness. |
That's not what the Church teaches. So try again, bigot! |
| Divorce in and of itself is not a sin, although as a PP pointed out many of the behaviors that might lead to one could be sinful. Divorce actually is required before a petition for a declaration of nullity can be filed in a Church court. The commonly used term “annulment,” is confusing because nothing actually is made null in the relevant proceeding. What is tested is whether a sacramental marriage ever occurred in the first instance. The kinds of behavior that lead to civil divorce often weigh heavily in favor of a conclusion that one or both parties lacked the requisite maturity and psychological ability to form a sacramental union that is permanent, exclusive and open to the transmission of life. PP’s are correct that sexual activity outside valid marriage violates Catholic moral teaching. |
I guess you missed the sarcasm. |
Way to backpedal. |
The bigotry you mean? Nope! You were loud and clear. |
is the backpedaling in the room with us? |
DP - if you genuinely believe something is an insidious evil, is it bigotry to hate that thing? Sincerely asking your opinion, to know your definition of bigotry. |
Because Catholics are always the loudest about this sort of “virtue” and it’s not even close. |
It’s this exactly. Other religions/subsets also discourage sex before marriage but catholics make it a part of their personality. They bring it up, casually, often and that’s what makes people connect it with them before any other religion. -Someone who went to college with a lot of catholics. Who made sure you knew they were catholic. |
don’t waste your breath-that poster doesn’t know what the word bigotry means. |
