| Maybe not an issue since you have an older kid who can handle laces, but we had 3 pairs of new balances with Velcro where the Velcro portion either fell off or stopped working. Replaced with a pair of Tsukihoshi and those have been terrific. |

The "bungee" style closures tend not to have that issue. |
