Police activity near Wootton

How can a group of 20 juveniles attacking a Wootton student not be linked to Wootton or MCPS at all?

That sounds highly unlikely.

This is according to kids who always seem to know more than the adults when this stuff goes down.

So it was a Rockville high school student who was assaulted? Were the others also Rockville high students?

Was he not a Wootton HS student? I just assumed.

If not a wootton student what was he doing there? Was he also part of the ‘gang’?

From the Bethesda article:
"Romeril said witnesses described a group of “about 20 juveniles on mopeds” attacking the victim with a blunt object before fleeing. Police said there is no evidence linking the incident to Thomas S. Wootton High School or its students."
It was around lunchtime and there's not much in the area except housing, so it would be odd if the kid wasn't a WHS student.

Why would it be odd?

The kids who descended onto Wootton must have heard the school is going downhill as it moves to the Crown site in Gburg and just decided to bring the trouble early to the dying campus on the Parkway. You know, get the cluster excited for the future trouble the kids will be getting into.

But in all seriousness, hope the kid attacked is OK. Even if he was a COSA.

Why would it be odd for a large group of students gathered during lunchtime two blocks from a high school to not be students of that high school? That would strike me as odd too.

These days, Wootton parents and the building the school lives in makes it look bad. It doesn’t need a lot of help. The students and staff/teachers though, pretty great. I feel badly they have to deal with what they deal with.

Its only a dozen or so, and many are community members and not actual parents.

I have to agree that all of these free days and alternative schedules don’t help.

How much are mopeds? So all 20 kids were able to afford new mopeds?

Was it a random event or did this group know the victim??

The 20 kids on moped are from DC. Ask the police. This is confirmed. The victim was stealing mopes and stole from the wrong group. Still, none of this should have happened.
