It's looks frumpy, matronly, and made of cheap fabric. Nothing good about it. |
Well, maybe OP’s “child” is graduating from a senior citizen class. |
|
Simple aquamarine or pearl earrings. That’s it!
It’s a lovely dress. |
People, the "age" of the dress is not the question. The brocade looks nice, the other one has a really awkward design, but one that has been seen in haute couture shows in the recent past (personally I hate it). Both are polyester, so both are cheap fabrics anyway! |
I think they’re both hideous and geriatric but I was trying to suggest something similar to what OP originally shared that isn’t brocade. |
|
I would go with the dress code of the speakers which is usually business attire - or business casual.
A graduation is not really a ladies luncheon. |
| What kind of graduation is this? |
| It’s too formal for a graduation. The fabric itself makes it hard to dress down, although you could try by going with very neutral and minimalist accessories. |
| The fabric looks very heavy. I would pass. |
You have no idea what OP's skin color is. Not everyone is a sickly pasty white like you. |
More modern? What planet do you live on? That's a grandma dress. |
|
I like OPs dress, but it’s for a cocktail party, not a graduation. Maybe OP is wearing it to a different event to celebrate the graduation and not the ceremony?
The other dress suggested is frumpy and looks cheap. |
It's an unfortunate frock, designed to conceal batwings. |
|
This dress looks too formal for a regular graduation OP, unless they is a cocktail party afterwards. I would try the same style in a more casual fabric.
Otherwise, just wear a pair of gray pearl earrings. |
