A couple things that are relevant here that haven’t been mentioned:

a) William Paul isn’t just Rand Paul’s son. He was until recently the digital director for Congressman Mike Collins, a Republican from Georgia who’s likely to be the GOP’s Senate nominee there.

b) This isn’t William Paul’s first day at the drunk and disorderly rodeo. He has a DUI and assaulted a flight attendant in two separate incidents.

Actually that is exactly it, I don't. The only person I know who smacks their kids is a conservative who smacks them over things like homework but shrugs at harsh judgy language because it is exactly how the dad talks (and exactly how the dad's parents talk). My spouse and I teach our kids about being kind to others, but I do not ever hit my kids and never has. My own 5th grade kid called out another kid for calling classmates with darker skin "darkies"
