Ken Griffin on the single factor he looks for when hiring at Citadel: "show me an athlete who did well academically."

I mean Citadel? You think hedge funders are something to strive for?

Yeah, coming from an athlete it would mean more. The closest Ken Griffin has gotten to sports is, I dunno, a GameStop.

But sure let’s keep worshipping people who made money investing large gobs of money handed to them by their wealthy parents. Real heroes, those guys.

He started his fund with $300k (2026 dollars) from his grandmother; he obviously could take big swings because family would bail him out.

I’m sure he saw Gordon Gecko as a role model.

On what planet have you observed this? I played elite sports through college and got good grades and nobody I know experienced this.

I doubt it’s a common occurrence but sports are not all the same. Football, hockey players will not be bullied. Swimmers, volleyball, maybe.

The football and hockey players will mob and bully the ones that are good students. That because bullies are weak and insecure. When a student is a good student and athlete it subconsciously show the bullies what crap they are.
