| Most kids look like that when their giant front two teeth come in and the rest are missing or baby teeth. |
| Go with what your dentist says. Palate expander smiles are weird. I wouldn’t be asking for one unless it was either that or pull teeth. Having an overbite doesn’t mean they need intervention at 8. Many times there are a of self correction of teeth as the face and jaw grow. I’d wait until all the teeth are in and puberty is in full swing- unless the dentist tells you to go earlier |
| Yes due for an ortho consult if she has lost her baby teeth in front on top. |

Don’t rely on your dentist, ours told us we will have to start braces in early teens but on a hunch, consulted an orthodontist. He instantly put our kid on a rapid palate expander and x-ray looks much better after a year. I do regret not starting sooner as I was waiting for my dentist to direct me.
8 is perfect, many offer free consultation, no harm scheduling one. |
Yes. They make a lot more money this way. It doesn’t mean your kid needs it |
Most are honest. Two of mine didn’t need expanders. One did because she used a pacifier like she was Maggie Simpson for 5 years. |
| Sorry but what does your sister in law having buck teeth have to do with anything? |
She thinks buck teeth are genetic. |
None of it is needed but the sooner they get the braces on and off the better. If you don't trust an orthodontist get a few opinions. |
Or they actually need braces for less time overall reducing the cost. Mine never needed anything after an expander and early braces at 8 with a overbite early on |
