When to take allergy medicine

Also for this reason I am very careful not to overtake allergy medications as people can develop a tolerance over time. Frequent (daily) usage has other longterm risks too, and I would gently advise anyone in this position (or thinks they're in this position) to consult an allergist. Outdoor camping is not for everyone.

Agreed. I've switched between several medications due to them not working, and I now take 2 at the same time. However, if the child has to be out and about and mom has been waiting until symptoms develop? nope, everyday during pollen season

Allergy medicine needs to build up in your body to have a preventative effect. Every day during pollen season. Once or twice depending on the medicine. See an allergist with your kid so they can help you and her.

So they need to be taken every day to build up and have that cumulative effect, but otoh taking it every day causes your bodies to gain tolerance?

WTF DCUM?

OP, seriously consider allergy shots for her. They're life-changing. Even with medication, my kids and I were miserable and now we just need a daily pill during the height of tree pollen season and we are fine.
