SLHS German program has been participating in The German American Partnership Program (GAPP) for decades.
SLHS students go to Germany for 3 weeks -- a week or so is a homestay while they attend school and then the rest is travel around the country. German kids then come in the fall for a week or so homestay here. |
| I also know a kid from Oakton who once went to London with theater over spring break (precovid) and one who went to Galapagos over spring break (also precovid). These are most definitely 100% parent pay but have to have staff to organize them--I haven't seen anything in a few years about trips except that chorus trip just 2 months ago. |
| Years ago the French dept chair at Chantilly would take students to France over the summer. She used a tour company to coordinate the itinerary, travel, lodging, and some meals. She retired, so I don’t know if another teacher does this now. |
Oakton absolutely does this. There's a trip to Europe this summer. Kids have to be approved (basically nobody with discipline problems) and parents pay. |
