Agree. Hiring a bus is actually the more responsible / safe thing to do here.

Some of the buses actually won't tolerate this. A couple years ago, my kid was on one and the driver threatened to dump them all and leave them in DC. A parent had to be called and come be on the bus and empty out all the booze.

So I guess choose the company based on your priorities! They definitely plan to get drunk and high on the bus.

Here's the thing. No, not all kids get drunk and do drugs. But that's the reason for the Party Bus. If your priority is no drinking and no drugs, don't get a Party Bus. Make them drive themselves, or drive them yourselves (if they want the big group traveling together, just rent a van).

Absolutely not true. Mine didn't drink and hung out with nerdy non drinkers. They were in a party bus for every homecoming and prom they attended. Going for pictures and the party bus is the best part. They blasted music and had a great time. A few times it left from our driveway and I talked to the drivers. They had horror stories of drunk kids but loved groups like ours and had lots of those, too.

Can you share which company/driver you used?

Chariots For Hire and Reston Limo. Not cheap but I found people very willing to chip in $100

A lot drive once prom finishes up —after parties. That’s when serious trouble/danger can happen.

I don’t get the need for this. Our school required parent to drop off/pick up. Kids not allowed to leave without parent signing out.

We are in Falls Church and some genius decided that our prom should be in Gainesville, so I think most of the kids are getting onto buses because that's a long way to drive! Reston Limousine is a good company.

Prom seems to have evolved to getting dressed up, going to DC for pictures, going somewhere to eat, and going to some sort of party, skipping the school portion entirely.
