MIT is #1, but San Jose State University is #2

Yet another college ranking, but this one is focused on tech industry job placements…

No way San Jose State is better than Berkeley and Stanford.

You're illiterate. It's a ranking of how well students from these schools performed on a coding assessment.

outside of CS / EE, it is a bit below the VT/UVA/W&M level

Not sure what you mean, that CMU is too low? It’s consistently been the top 3 CS schools in this country and always #1 for AI.

You just outed yourself for knowing nothing about Silicon Valley. In CA, everyone knows SJSU CS is the fast lane to FAANG.

It is how they performed on programming and SWE skills tests, which is applicable to how they will do in top tech jobs requiring high-level programming but is not an assessment of actual on the job skills. The school list is not surprising at all when you understand that SJS is in silicon valley and has very bright cohort of CS/CE students and excellent professors in that area.
This ranking has a lot more relevance to the quality of undergrad CS/CE degree than US NEWS which factors in % on aid and cost and everything else:
Here it is to save folks a click:
1. MIT
2. SJSU
3. UPenn
4. CMU
5. Princeton
6. CalTEch
7. Yale
8. Berkeley
9. Brown
10. UCLA
11. StonyBrook
12. Rice
13. Duke
14. GaTech
15. Cornell

Oh, but DCUM says that elite/ivy are bad for CS and engineering...

But I thought all the Elite/Ivy folks said CS is dying.

Nah. That's just anti-marketing to scare other competitive applicants away so the poster's kids have better chances.

Gotta love DCUM - never change.

Surprising that Santa Clara University isn't high on the list. It also feeds into all of Silicon Valley.

Location matters more than some of the US News ranking inputs.

CMU is top 3 in CS and #1 in AI. Both CMU and CalTech produce low number of super qualified CS undergrads (max few hundreds per year) that are either hired at FAANG or Wall Street as quants or go to academia (phd). Seeing SJSU ahead doesn't make sense and contradicts other source if data.

This is another shady survey that tells nothing. Princeton was 29 last year and climbed to 5 this year.
So, suddenly the Princeton students got so much better or underlying data was trash.
