I think this is where a lot of the confusion in DC private school education, people think of schools have particular starting points, specifically Kindergarten, 6th grade, or 9th grade but for a lot of these schools really fill up early (at age 3, PK, or even 3rd grade/4th grade for big highschools), so by the time K or later rolls around, there are often only a handful of spots that open up due to attrition.
It’s not always obvious unless you’ve looked into the admissions structure, but it’s why starting the research earlier can make a big difference in how many options you actually have. |
