Yes, it's almost as if brands now market themselves very high to seem more exclusive and desirable...and maybe it is working? I am noticing the same thing with perfumes which used to be $100-200 and can now go up to $500+.

My daily driver perfume is $450 for 1 ounce. It makes me happy, so it is worth it.

I've found this on the high end as well. For the middling to lower end brands, everyone going up in price.

Yep- higher prices is what this country voted for. Sucks but here we are.

It’s only going to go higher with oil prices climbing.

Make do with what you have.

"My data point is one but I'm going to go ahead and call out the OP and everyone else for exaggerating"

Now you have to say which one that is!

Textile waste from the fashion industry is a huge environmental polluter. We don’t need the latest style or trend of disposable clothing. Buy natural fabrics when possible in classic styles and wear them for years. Shop thrift shops or trade with friends as another poster suggested.

There's a beautiful, classic wool dress I tell myself I'll buy "one day." It was $475 when I found it (out of range for me). I refreshed the page last week and it's $515 now.

How long ago was it $475? That's a $40 increase, so 8.4%.

That's not exactly a massive price increase if it's been a couple years. Your email sounds like you've been holding out for it for a while?

Not to mention that Jcrew "Factory" is garbage fast fashion. A shell of the mothership anchor brand.
