If you've blurred out your house on streetview, why?

Anonymous
Because I am so nosy and also a hypocrite. I can find out someone’s information / Facebook / address from just a brief conversation in an orthodontist waiting room.

I mean, they could still drive over to your house and achieve the same thing.

Exactly. And I wonder if blurring your house actually makes it seem like you're someone important who's worth targeting.

It’s not uncommon in my area. There are six other houses on my street that are blurred out.

I blurred mine because I happened to be standing in front of the house when the camera went by, and I didn't want to be in the picture!

I think it also gives a negative vibe when selling.

It doesn’t deter serious buyers with an agent.

It might deter some serious buyers because it makes the home stand out online and the blurring is permanent.

It also prevents buyers from getting a visual history of the home/lot.

Just to piss you off? Really, you can't think of a couple reasons why people would do this?

NP. Obviously not- that’s why they’re asking.

Because it’s creepy. Many of us avoid participating in tech bro monetization wherever and whenever possible.

What kind of criminal is willing to profile your house on Google Maps but not drive by

It’s probably like anything these days. You first use technology to find your target, then you do a drive by to see if the Google pics were accurate and to do your final planning.

This bothers you that much?

Find a better therapist.

Everyone in the DC area is so self important.

The paranoid freaks of DCUM are convinced everyone is out to steal their guns.

Why do you "hate" it, OP? Because your curiosity has been foiled? That this bothers you so much speaks to deeper issues that your time would be better spent addressing.
