Trusting gut instinct in interviews?

I’ve been interviewing and I think i know when I did well and when I didn’t. But even when I think I did well I didn’t end up getting the job. It’s a mind game.


FWIW, I just finished the hiring process for a postion and had three fantastic interviews. These folks had great skills and I really connected with them, and even thought I made absolutely no promisies or even hinted they had the postion I know they likely walked away thinking they had the job. And I would have loved to have hired all three but had to pick only one. (I did ask HR to give them that feedback). I'm sure their guts were telling them they had the job. It's so hard in this market when you can nail the interview and have the perfect skill set and still get edged out.
