The “born again” types tend to be evil AF.

That's been my experience. They can just do something else evil or unethical and then get "born again" again.

Jesus would not be into bombing people.

More importantly, it means NOTHING about being a good person. That is what people have to understand. Either you're a good human being, or you're not. and there are a lot of things implicit in religion that makes people bad humans. Just look at what people that believe they were "chosen" by a mythical god have brought to the world.

So what you're saying is Christians are inherently bad people.

NP. the Christians who hinge on "Jesus's forgiveness" are inherently bad people. People who are actually good people, of all religions and non-religion, don't need to be forgiven because they're not doing anything so terrible. And it's really not a difficult choice for us.

The Pope's side of the coin states that Jesus, "does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war but rejects them". I think the Pope has pretty good credibility to weigh in on this issue.

Jesus stressed our forgiveness for others. Those people tend to focus on Jesus forgiving them but forget to forgive others. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who trespass against us. They are very judgemental of others while expecting full forgiveness for their own peccadillos!

As an atheist, I regret to say there will be no judgement day for Hegseth, but hopefully he will be take to task while he's still alive. I like the Pope too.

I’m not a Christian because I wasn’t born a sinner and don’t need forgiveness. I can forgive others as needed.

My middle-aged cousin, who's career military, says it doesn't really matter who is president. He's been stationed in East Africa for the last year and now could be headed to Iran. But sure, it doesn't matter who the president is.

This. The DCUM religion forum conflates Christian with Catholic but the evangelical Christian strain that is dominant in U.S. politics is anti-Catholic. A bunch of Catholics vote with them because of their abortion politics but they don't align on much else.

I cannot think of any subject I’d rather hear less about from Pete Hegseth than the position of Jesus Christ on the matter of war and peace.

The Pontiff wipes the floor with Pete here, and probably on most subjects.

Of course the fake Christians (Evangelicals) embody everything that Catholics know to reject outright.

Their savior is not the same.

“For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Christian doctrine states that everyone needs forgiveness, not just people you decided are bad.

I don’t think people are good or bad. Lots of people society sees as “bad” are really good people. And so many people who society sees as “good” people are not good at all.

As humans we don’t have the ability to judge other humans because none of us have the ability to judge the hearts of other men or women.
