Derek, Derrek, Derrick

This is just wrong. Derek is the only correct spelling.

DH is a Derek. 95% of people default to the Derek spelling; the other 5% do Dereck or Derrick. He has never been Rick. One or two friends called him "Wreck" or "D-wreck" but mostly they just use his name or his last name. Have never seen Derrek.

Derrick is my favorite.

I think Derek is a nice name, and this is the best spelling.

I know one whose friends nicknamed him "Dirk." That's unfortunate, but we can't really control nicknames.

Derek is the correct spelling.

Derek but it’s pretty terrible.

Don’t lead OP astray with that dull name. John is the name equivalent of the color beige.

Derek. Love the name!

There's also Derick. I know one.

I like names that have multiple common spellings. It makes it harder for people that barely know you to find you online (which is a good thing in this day and age).

I think we’re talking about an unborn baby. “Online” may not exist how it does in 40 years when he’s your age.

+ 100

There are 1000s of names! And about 25 of them fit the same description. So Unless it’s a family name or some other reason you lost the bet, Please don’t name your kid John in 2026.
