In terms of preschool, daycares will usually wipe longer, but the preschools that start at 3 usually don't wipe. If your kid poops at school, you're probably going to be doing some touchup with a baby wipe when they get home that first year unless your child is very tidy.
I think this is bad advice. We started that way but quickly realized that even letting her try resulted in some poo smearing, and I’m just not willing to deal with the infection risks there. They need a level of base dexterity to even be taught, and that was NOT there when we potty trained at 2.
