Adult Braces-Regretting This

Don't take advil, take tylenol. Advil is not advised for braces.

Life is short, your gap probably looked cool

Trust me it doesn’t. It looks obvious that my teeth have grown apart and the other teeth have also increased space between them. Everything is all spaced out when I used to have a nice, tight row of teeth. Basically my mouth was regressing to before I had braces as kid with spaced out bucked teeth. Not cool at all!

Wear your retainer every night forever. My teeth moved back.

Thanks-I was expecting gum pain from the teeth moving but this inner cheek pain is unreal and I don’t love that my lips are totally swollen. Maybe our adult bodies just aren’t as adaptive as when we were kids.

No, it's just your memory is now worse. It was this bad when you were a kid, but you don't remember it.

+1. I can still feel all the scars on my inner cheeks from the braces I wore 40 years ago. It was horrible.

Oh my braces as a kid were pure torture! So so so bad, always sore cheeks, I remember trying to place gum on the edge of the wires to relieve the pain at least temporarily.

Use wax. Your body and mind will get used to the braces within a week or so and the pain will dissipate. After each orthodontist appointment, you might have a little pressure for a couple days afterwards as they adjust braces, but you will be used to the braces after a couple weeks and not even notice they are in your mouth. You will be fine! And it will be worth it but when you get your retainer at the end, you have to wear it forever to keep your teeth in p,ace. I’ve been wearing my retainer now at night only for 20+ years.

I regretted Invisalign every day I had it. I guess I am glad I did it, but I wish I had considered braces. I found it taking them on and off to be torture the first few weeks and a real pain after that.
