Birthday invite mixup

Mine has also, but for a bday of a close friend where he was intentionally invited. He didn't mind at all being the only boy. But that seems different from not being a close friend and perhaps assuming tht whole class will be there.

WTF? If the boy considers the girl a friend then of course it would be hurtful to be uninvited. Where would you ever get the idea that this wouldn’t be a problem just because he is a boy?

OP here. Thanks for all the advice. Ultimately I just told the mom what happened and she was very understanding. She shares the same first name of the mom I meant to message, so it was an honest mistake and she said her son would totally understand that it was girls only. My daughter is turning 7 and they aren’t really friends so I really didn’t think the boy would be too hurt.
