And it's been worse at the MS level, and under destruction at HS level. MCPS will soon be suck at every level.

And that is OK

My question is why MCPS does G&T testing and does G&T designations and doesn't use that info in CES and HS magnet placement. Everything is just based on a single MAP-R or MAP-M data point. Seems like a not very robust way to identify smart kids, particularly young ones where you also have COGAT testing mandated by the state for G&T but MCPS doesn't use the information.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. They don't care about the kids who are truly highly abled. They want to make it seem like everyone can be highly abled!

MCPS has gifted programming? Please explain! Maybe some acceleration or enrichment begins a little bit in 4th grade in Math with Math 4/5. And maybe some schools offer an enriched literacy path in 4th/5th, but not all schools. CES is a lottery, but the standards they use to select who is eligible are not the really the gifted kids so may as well stay at local school.

I was shut out of the survey because the first question is “Do you have a hold receiving G&T services?” To my knowledge, my kid doesn’t but was labelled at G&T on numerous documents. Is Compacted Math considered a G&T “service”? This is a class, not a service.

There isn't even a program, class, school titled G&A at MCPS. MCPS is too progressive to have talented kids receive such classes.

Yes, basically any compacted or enriched classes, or even receiving the "your child regularly receives enrichment in class" marker on the report card, is considered G&T services by MCPS and would mean you can take the survey.

All MCPS students are gifted and talented. That’s why everyone takes Honors English.

So to PP, I think you can still fill out the survey.

It is a state requirement to test in 2nd grade. MCPS does nothing with the information.

Bumping this since there is still time to provide feedback.

Only the HS magnets truly provide GT level instruction.
And if you're lucky with an ES/MS teacher who goes above and beyond - we've had a few of those and they were amazing - I always let the principals know.
