Why cant DC deal with truancy?

What teachers are you talking about? Do you think they have extra teachers waiting to catch them up?

My own kid took many days off in high school. The permission to do so, came from my ex. My ex has serious mental health challenges and has never worked. He probably thought the kid needed mental health days also. Ex himself had skipped several grades at school. He was smart, but the damn depression...
People like him are allowed to have kids. I had no idea how messed up ex was. Back in the old country, they lock those people away. Here it's more like 'we are all different'.
I didn't understand how disrupting the 'we are all different' and 'I don't want to work' really is.
Luckily DC moved out of his house, started college, and works already at age 19. His loves to work and loves life.
If he had inherited any mental health problems from his father, I would not have the strength to help DC. I'm the only parent working. I have a low wage job that exhausts me by the end of the day.
It is so easy to have this dysfunction to go on for generations. 'OK' to stay home did not come from me, it came from the dysfunctional parent.

They started off the year pretty firm and parents literally went psycho that they had to bring in an actual doctors note when they called their kid in sick for more than 2 days in a row. It isn’t “equitable” bc some people can’t afford to go to the doctors, etc. Same with parents saying their kid needed mental health days off and it isn’t the schools business or they are taking a vacation and don’t need permission. Schools can’t win.

What does an elementary or middle school need a doctor's note for? Since grades don't matter until HS I doubt very many are faking to get more time to study for tests or turn in assignments.

I think it’s just because so many kids are chronically absent, so if your kid has to be out for multiple consecutive days, they want a documented reason beyond the parent’s word

How about a photo of the vomit on their pjs?
