At 56, I'm really glad I did not decide to adopt back in my 40s and decided to stay childless and move onto other things.

I'm 55 and feel very similarly. I did two clomid cycles with donor sperm in my late 30s and it didn't take either time. It was hard, back then, but I'm soooo glad it turned out the way it did. I have an amazing DH and a life we could not live if we had a child.

There's pros and cons.

I've not had a proper vacation since my kids were born. I have no bodily autonomy at all. My youngest will come wipe his face on my clothes. I am touched out at the end of the day. Medical complications and anxiety that will make aging very unpleasant for me. Looks like WW3 is about to kick off, that's less fun with kids.
