Meeting a new group of ladies, is Moscato d'Asti a good wine to bring with me?

Depending on your price range, try bringing a LaMarca Processo or Laurent Perrier champagne instead. A Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc are pretty universal too; I’d stay away from moscato. I haven’t had or liked that since getting introduced to wine in college.

Moscato is way too sweet. I don’t know of anyone my age (40) who drinks it and I don’t see it offered at events.

Same, as a fellow 40 year old. It's up there with bringing the most oaked, buttery Chardonnay you can find. Maybe someone is into that? But many more would be repulsed.
