What state have you been to that had the nicest people?

I second Nebraska. Ohio is nice too but only central Ohio. Northern is grumpy and clique-ish, southern is fake nice and clique-ish.

Texas. They have that southern cordiality (without the fake, nice-nasty undertone) and the western openness. I grew up in DC where people aren’t really that nice, and have lived in North Carolina (see above), California (aloof), Belgium (not nice) and West Virginia (not nice and angry at the world).

Texas blows them all out of the water.

I agree, but please come off it. Those circumstances are the result of the decisions of a very small group. The people in general in Texas are incredibly nice.

I also think NYC has very nice people. One time I passed out in a coffee shop (pregnant, overheated while standing in line in a winter coat dragging a suitcase) and so many people helped me.
