Once you get an offer and accept, I assume the actual link to registration and payment comes later? This is our first year with Arlington travel. |
| I heard some u12 boys offers went out yesterday. I would expect next round would be 48-72 hours after first round goes out and they know who has accepted and who has declined so they have a better idea of open spots left. I would also tell parents not to read to much into the kids getting offers first being the starters. At 10/11 years old a lot of things change over 6 months. |
I assume the offers were for kids outside the club? |
Yes, that is my understanding. |
| What is the difference between PA1 and PA2? Do they play in the same league? Or is one ECNL and one is NCSL? Is the skill level dramatically different between teams? Are the opportunities to grow/move up similar? |
| If they were U13 PA1 would be ECNL and PA2 would be ECNL RL. It doesn't mean all the kids from pa1 will go to the NL team and all the pa2 kids will go to RL teams but typically more kids will go to NL team from PA1 then PA2. PA2 usually plays teams at a lower level. There may be kids from both teams that don't make either NL or RL team for u13 |
So PA2 plays in NCSL, which is the same league as the Red, White, Blue, Black travel teams? Sorry, new to Arlington soccer! |
|
This Spring, 2016 PA1 plays a year up in NCSL, against a handful of other top 2016 teams that want to play 9v9 (SYC and Alexandria) or clubs’ 2015 second teams—while PA2 will play in NCSL’s top U10 division (against the remaining clubs’ 2016 first teams).
Not sure how things will shake out in the Fall. |
| Girls PA1 offers hit inboxes today. |
Is the assumption that they sent all the offers and teams are locked unless someone declines? |
PA1 should be playing VPSL ECNL-RL at U11 (similar to the 2015 Pre-ECNL team this year). Not sure about PA2. |
| This year for both U11 and U12, PA1 plays VPSL and PA2 plays in the top division up an age group in NCSL. Red teams more variable with the U11 red playing in the top NCSL division in its age group and U12 red playing in the third division a year up. |
Yes for this age group, typically all offers go out at once. |
As a team that computes in the VPSL against Arlington at the U12 level, I would say the truth is more complicated than this and it’s closer to the SYC style. You don’t know until game day if the PA2 team or the PA1 team will be showing up. I’m assuming they send PA1 when they expect the competition to be tougher and PA2 the rest of the time. |
| Typically for u12 the pa1 kids would play the bigger clubs in vpsl like Richmond PWC and VSA and PA2 would play most of the smaller clubs (Herndon, Villareal). Team not playing in VPSL that week would be playing the u13 NCSL D1 team pa2 is scheduled to play that weekend. Usually not a huge difference in skill between 2 teams its the speed in which they use that skill and the overall speed of play that is so much different. |
