Critical thinking and good writing skills aren't declining, though.

Of course not, but IB's hardly the only way to acquire such skills.

I've just seen a lot of posts recently where posters have noted that IB requires a lot of busy work and may not be worth the extra effort. I wondered if it left IB boosters feeling defensive, and therefore inclined to start threads like this one.

OP- I mentioned posts from a few years ago because I had a HS senior at the time. I haven’t been keeping up with this board since then. I was genuinely interested in learning if others saw beneficial outcomes or continued relevance now that our children are entering the workforce. I personally think it has been a huge boost to my child’s college success and international work prospects.

Look past the hype words like critical thinking, good writing, cultural intelligence, global fluency, geopolitics, interdisciplinary. They are just useless and meaningless brain farts. Don’t put your child’s future into the hands of these demagogues. They’re just trying to make a buck.

Wait, did I write this??

I feel the IB diploma is even more valuable today given geopolitical relevance. I think that having that diploma plus an interdisciplinary focus in college (e.g. sociology and CS) is the sweet spot. Do you agree?

Woo hoo!!

Well if AI can spit out an answer faster than an AP student can recall rote memorization, then yes, the ability to critically analyze and THINK and SYNTHESIZE is going to be a key differentiator.

What’s going on? Is enrollment in IB that low that coordinators are doing mandatory cheerleading duty on DCUM? Honey, they dont pay you enough for this.
