I believe that TT is campus permit only before 4 on Monday-Friday, so swim people will have to park in one of the paid lots not restricted to campus permit holders for the Friday prelims session. The stadium lot should be available for that purpose and is an easy walk to the pool. In the past there have been specific paid lots designated for swim parking on Friday during the day and you could buy a pass ahead of time, but it does not appear that TOLL arranged that with UMD. |
Only one year they had a lot available for Friday session. We have been doing this meet for years and you can even search DCUM and Friday has almost always been a nightmare. Parents really have an issue walking across campus. Stadium and Regents lots are both available. |
This is our 4th year in a row at this meet and there were Friday prelims paid parking passes available for particular lots definitely in 2024 and 2025, and I feel like 2023 as well. What has been an issue in the past few years is parents either not getting the information from their clubs about parking, or getting it and ignoring it, and then holding up the flow of traffic as they try to pull into the available lots without the pass and are stopped by whoever is posted at the lot. Then they are left scrambling to figure out where they are supposed to park if they aren’t familiar with UMD. |
Yes, you had to pay for a lot. There has not been a lot available for parking like there are for other meets (Open champs had TTG on Friday). |
You had to pay for and get a pass to TTG for the Friday prelims at Open champs. This is similar to what has been done in years past at AG champs, a lot was specifically identified that you could buy a pass to park there on the UMD parking website. TOLL has made no similar arrangements for Fridays prelim session at AG champs. |
| Spring break starts Fri at UMd and plenty leave Thursday even so parking for this meet should be no problem. |
And most years TTG is not available for 14&U. Last year you had to just pay at the 1B, 1C, and 1D lots. Most years TTG is not available on Friday. This is not new. |
OMG. I really hope not. This looks like mandatory training modules that I have to take at work. The kicker is the current PVS site is one of the easiest sites to navigate from either computer or phone. I don't understand the need to make it difficult to navigate. |
Omg, what is new is the meet host not making arrangements for pre-paid passes to be available for specific lots for Friday prelims, whether it is TTG or not. It was a nice thing to have (Open champs last week had it, and it happened that they were able to designate TTG as one of the lots), particularly for parents unfamiliar with UMD and attending this meet for the first time. This is the first time that parking instructions for Friday prelims are just find a lot on campus. I know you’re probably associated with TOLL and salty that someone pointed out that they didn’t arrange to do that this year, but come on. |
DP - I actually think that was the approach for the last few AG champs we attended. There was a map and they said to find paid parking on campus. |
+1, not with TOLL. Friday for AG Champs has always been find your own parking. It is a nightmare particularly because you have parents of 12 year olds who don't think it is "safe" to drop their kid off at swimmer drop off So they drive around hawking for paid spaces and not wanting to walk across campus. |
I literally have the emails from our club for 2024 and 2025 and there were designated lots with links to purchase the parking passes in advance for Friday prelims. |
There are paid lots you can park in, what is so hard? You are an adult, do you really need this much hand holding? |
Yes, but this meet started well before 2024. You said “this is the first time”. It’s the first time in your experience, perhaps, but it’s not the first time. |
I don’t, I’ve been going to meets at UMD 3-4 times a year for the past 3 years. But it’s incorrect to say the meet hosts in past years have not arranged for designated lots with the ability to buy a parking pass ahead of time for Friday prelims. For people new to the meet and unfamiliar with campus it’s a nice to thing to have, given that what kicked this whole argument off is someone asking about parking for Friday. |
