Anna Camp comes out as bisexual

Representation is important. If it doesn't matter to YOU, just move on.

She's been in a relationship with a woman since last year so I don't think this is news.

More interesting to me is that there is a big age gap between her and her GF (Camp is 42, Jade is 24). Camp is also twice divorced and very wealthy, and the imbalance there feels gross to me regardless of gender or sexual preference.

+1 this exactly. A 24 year old writer. Sick.

It’s better than 32 years older like Karoline Leavitt and her husband who is 60! Karoline is only 28. Yuck!

Good for her

Who gives a shit?

This isn’t “representation” to the numb nuts upthread. It’s just attention whoring by a mid talent. She wouldn’t have been at Stonewall or dating Virginia Woolf, dummy.

It’s really not. No one cares.

How do you know she is "very wealthy?" People are saying "who" in here because they don't recognize her name. She's a semi-regular working actress but nowhere near a household name and wouldn't be paid accordingly. Two adults can have a relationship without it being imbalanced with an age gap.

She's not wealthy by like Elon Musk standards but she's wealthy by regular person standards. She's done 3 Pitch Perfect movies plus she's a lead in the new Scream coming out this year. She's been working continuously since 2007 and that's included big name TV and film projects since she first broke through in 2009 with a role on the Office (she played Pam's sister I think?). She's never taken a break from her career, as she's never had kids, and she hustles hard -- she does voice over work, is pretty versatile between comedy and drama, plus she can really sing which obviously led to Pitch Perfect but also got her a job on Glee and at one point she had a sitcom with Bradley Whitford about a church choir.

She's legit famous, and rich, and her girlfriend is a whole legal person-who-can-vote younger. If she were a man people would rightly say "ew" and I'm an equal opportunity judgmental person, so: ew.

+1 I also assume a lot of actors like this have personality disorders that get fed by their fame and they simply seek out relationships with enablers. If that enabler can also make them seem "edgy" in a way that might boost social media followers or lead to a paycheck doing something targeted at Gen Z, even better.

There *are* relationships with age gaps that don't seem sketch, including LGBTQ+ relationships. For instance, Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor, who are 32 years apart. But that one never bugged me because both were well established when they started dating and if anything, Paulson was more famous at the time. They seem like equals. For a hetero example, both Michael Douglas/Catherine Zeta Jones (25 year gap) and Harrison Ford/Calista Flockhart (22 year gap) seem like balanced, healthy relationships. And there are even examples reversing genders -- Priyanka Chopra is 10 years older than Nick Jonas, and Julianne Moore is 9 years older than Bart Freundlich. Again, all parties were famous and established in their careers when they met, though.

Whereas a successful 40-something actress with two failed marriages suddenly announcing she's bi and dating a 24 year old "stylist" is sketchy AF.

The 24 year old is not a stylist. She’s a writer.

Why would she feel the need to announce her sexuality? Is there some reason people feel compelled to do this?

She's a woman who has previously been married to men but is in a relationship with a woman so it's a natural subject to talk about in an interview.

I thought she came out with her relationship with whipkey a year ago

Interesting. Always loved her as an actress.

Slow news day (but not really as there is war everywhere), but People already covered this https://people.com/anna-camp-says-rebel-wilson-has-been-the-most-supportive-about-relationship-11765270

I will never understand why people feel they must announce their sexuality. Just live your life, no one cares.

It’s to feel validated as they bask in affirmation.
