Sorry for the dumb question (my kids are little). Why are you feeding the entire team before games?

Because they will be at school from 8am until 10pm after the game. They have to have dinner so one family feeds the coaches and whole team once per season.

Baseball is 3-10? Ok I guess I get it.

At schools with 2-3 baseball teams, and 2-3 softball teams, the field may not be available at 3:00, so the game is scheduled for later. Often multiple games are scheduled on the same day.

If it is supposed to be homemade, I’d go with a pasta bar sort of thing. Pasta, sauce, meatballs etc. with a bunch of garlic bread and salad.

It doesn't have to be homemade, and I'm not a good cook so will buy. For chick fil a sandwiches over nuggets?

My kid plays a sport that involves more running than baseball, but at least for them, they want a lot of carbs before a game, and particularly carbs that aren't paired with fat. Some kids are fine with high fat before a game, but some kids aren't.

So, yes, I'd vote for sandwiches, even though I prefer their nuggets. I'd probably add some fruit on the side as another carb source. Our teams do things differently, where a few parents combine, and I always bring the fruit. Bananas, cutie oranges, and apples are affordable choices.

Hot dogs
Taco bar (walking tacos are even easier) - could also cater Chipotle or Moe’s

I think I’d just do sandwiches? Then add some other stuff- chips, cut up fruit (I think CFA offers this or can just buy from supermarket) etc to round it out. Assuming no one has any major dietary restrictions.

Chipotle would also a good idea.

Depends what other families are doing I suppose- not sure if anything has been “already taken”.

Are you in Virginia? District Taco does a great job.

Yes. Games typically start at 6:30. Kids aren’t going home between the end of school and start time. So, yes, baseball is 3-10. Ish.

Sure hope nobody on the team is kosher.

I’ve never heard of parents doing this for a high school team. Most kids either one – bring their own food two – grab something local before warm-up start or three – their parents bring them something.

Ask the coach. I have no idea. It's just the way it is. How are they keeping food cold or hot all day at school? Should they bring a cooler?

Parents pick up the food and bring it to school before the game, not at the beginning of the day.

Is Chick Fil A kosher? Halal? Is Little Caesars or District Taco?

Food preferences may require BYOD.

Kids with special food needs should bring their own or their parents can provide a kosher/halal version for everyone. There’s too many food allergies and special food conditions to take literally every possibility into account.
