1/2 of 40 year old men in sf aren’t gay and 1/3 of 40 year old men in nyc aren’t gay

That’s an insane stat.

What’s going on?

What's going on is that they are undesirable. Heinous personalities, poor social skills, middling looks, and exploitative beliefs about women. The rate of singlehood is only going to rise among men because they're getting ruder and nastier and refusing to accept that they must become worthwhile people.

Notwithstanding women's complaints about men not doing housework, modern appliances make it feasible for a single man to live on his own and take care of his home by himself. Food prep services and takeout can fill in for those without culinary skills. Most men don't need to get married to have sex. Porn can help fill in the gaps for some.

Chores, appliances, and sex are all women are good for, huh? What are men good for?

No, but food and shelter are real needs. During hunter-gatherer times no one lived alone. Being banished to live alone meant almost certain death. Before modern times people lived in groups often married because no one could support and take of themselves on a farm alone.

In early industrial times (1880s-1940s) men who worked in factories or offices still needed someone to cook, make their clothes, wash their clothes. Single men often rented a room that included "room and board" because taking care of appliances and feeding one's self without modern appliances is too time consuming.

People can and do live alone quite happily nowadays.

Of course women can provide companionship and love, although one can get that through family and friends too.

So men (and women) don't need to get married nowadays. And many don't, explaining the numbers OP presented.

I’m based in SF and it seems like everyone is coupled up here. Maybe the other 50 percent is foreign transplants?

Why it gets easier and easier for a select few of us to sleep around and much as we want to.

She certainly got the heinous personalities part right. 😆 But I applaud you for not signing up for marriage to some poor woman only to frustrate her with your sex addiction.

Who do you expect to read this random screed? I asked what men are good for. Do you have an answer?

Why are you quoting me with a response that has no relevance to what I wrote?

In which society are men good for chores and sex? What an unserious answer. It's precisely because laziness and shitty sex are the male norm that men who can wash a dish and find a clit think they're hot shit.

My brother is a 50+ bachelor in NYC. Never married. He was the top D1 athlete, prom king, stud, etc. Total player. He would tell my mom “my wife hasn’t been born yet” when he was in his 30s and she’d pressure him about selling down. He has had an on again off again woman for a decade. But he never wanted to get married, have a family.

I applaud people that stand up to family pressure/societal expectations and live their life for themselves.

He could have left a wake of broken marriages, dysfunctional family, etc.

^ I will never pressure my own sons to get married or have kids. They can do what they want to do. It’s their life.
