Went to Newport, RI twice and it just was not as amazing as people described it to be

Quaint towns, low crowds, walk to beaches, excellent seafood with coastal views - love it.

It is one of my favorite places in the US but I love mansions, gardens, history, beaches, and sailing.

Rhode Island beaches are among the nicest on the east coast IMO.

I want to go as kind of a family history trip.

I like it.

Hmm. Not sure I'd say that though.

Definitely not if you prefer Myrtle Beach.

Then you probably don’t like all of Cape Cod either? It’s beach, dining, seafood, cliffwalk, and sailing. What did you think it was going to be?

Guess you haven't traveled much! No, they're not, there isn't any good waves!

Hilton head and FL have the beaches on the east coast hands down.

Why don’t you trust your own opinions?

It’s…Rhode Island, what do you expect lol?

Reminds me of that Wayne’s world quote…”I’m in….Delaware.”

Op here. Oddly, I absolutely loved Martha’s Vineyard FWIW. I enjoyed MV more than Nantucket and Cape Cod.

It is a go once or twice location, not a return to annually destination.

Cape Cod beaches are the prettiest IMHO, but the water is a little too cool for me and I hear about too many sharks.. My favorite east coast beaches are on Cape Hatteras.

You shoulda been there 100 years ago, when it was really jumpin'. Been going slowly downhill since then.
