Do your parents have dentures?

Both sets of grandparents, now long deceased, had dentures. My parents, now in their mid-80s, do not. I always chalked it up to fluoride in the water, but that is a feeling, not fact

My 85 yo mom has dentures. In fact she recently lost the top one. I’m looking for a replacement place. Does anyone have a recommendation? I keep seeing commercials for Aspen Dental and clear choice. Calling for appointments next week. Any other recommendations are welcome.

Aren't they a somewhat outdated technology?

My mom has always been obsessed with dental care - tons of fillings (they are >80) and my mom has some implants (Dad? I don't know).

Hopefully nobody reading this thread will need them either.

My mom had a partial for a while, but got implants.

My dad had 10 teeth removed in his seventies. He didn’t replace them.

I’m 52 and realized a few years ago that while there used to be lots of tv commercials for denture adhesives and denture cleaners when I was a child, I never see advertising for them now. They must be far less common. Out of my four grandparents, one had complete dentures, one had partial dentures, one just lived with some missing teeth, and one had all of her natural teeth. Between my parents and my dh’s, all four have their natural teeth. I’ve never had a crown or a root canal and only have a few fillings. My kids are 18 and have never had a cavity. I think there have been huge strides made in dentistry and oral healthcare in the last 70 years.

Another person here whose grandparents had dentures but parents don't. One of my parents has a lot dental work like implants, crowns, etc. due to missing front teeth after a car accident.

Nope. I don't think he flosses, but he's got his own teeth.

My parents, in their early 80s, still have their teeth.

My mom does but only for the upper teeth. 80 years old.

88 year old dad doesn’t. 92 year father in law doesn’t either.
