Schultz was a long time ago. Republicans are not going to win any of these seats. Trump has killed the Republican party. |
Sandy Anderson and Robyn Lady have antagonized a lot of folks in their districts. Both are vulnerable should they run again. |
Most people don’t even know who their school board members are. They will vote for whoever is on the blue handout. |
The county-wide boundary study got people in Springfield and Dranesville paying more attention. Anderson was condescending as shit and left people thinking she still wants to redistrict West Springfield. Lady showed up in Great Falls and told people she'd send a kid to Herndon over Langley if she had a choice. Those memories linger. |
Nah. Lady had a meeting with Great Falls and then changed her stance on the new high school. She went from claiming it was desperately needed because of overcrowding at Chantilly to it needs to be a magnet. |
So what? She was a big booster of buying KAA and it’s not going to be a magnet. She may have changed her tune slightly but it’s understood she’s trying to set Langley up to get redistricted in a few years. |
The vast majority of the Dranesville district would be uneffected by a redistricting of part of the western boundary between Langley and Herndon. Frankly, some would even welcome it. You need to find a few other hotbed issues and build a coalition. |
People in Dranesville won’t have any problem coming up with a range of issues where Lady has fallen short. That’s probably why at least one potential candidate to oppose her is already rumored. Springfield and Silly are also the last two districts to have had GOP-endorsed members (Schultz and Wilson). PP is right that Trump taints everything GOP-related in Fairfax, but Anderson is awful and Dixit is a lightweight. |
DP. Lady is very vulnerable. The boundary change process was added stress for great falls families over the last couple of years, and Lady has barely paid lip service to the dilapidated conditions of McLean High. If a moderate-ish candidate challenges her, they’ve got a good chance. |
As a politician, Robyn Lady’s instincts are about as bad as they come. The examples of her sticking her foot in her mouth and flip-flopping abound. It’s like she has “one-term member” written all over her face. If the FCDC is smart, they’ll counsel her to step aside so they can find someone who isn’t damaged goods to replace her. |
Springfield has the lone Republican on the board of supervisors. We could do it again and take out Sandy. |
The so-called "non-partisan" is a joke. |
Braddock had a GOP supervisor and a GOP endorsed school board member in the not-too-distant past. The school board races are non-partisan. There is no primary - just candidates the party chooses to endorse. |
The local Democrats opened up the process for endorsing SB candidates in 2023. You didn’t need to be a party member to vote in the endorsement process, simply provide an unenforceable pledge to support the eventual candidate who got the most votes. That was done in response to the 2019 process, where only FCDC members could vote and Obrar Omeish got a lot of teenagers to join the FCDC as youth members. Many were too young to vote in the general election, but they delivered Omeish the FCDC endorsement over Ilryong Moon, which was a huge embarrassment given his seniority and common sense. The process still favors people who pay a lot of attention to the endorsement process, so the long-time party loyalists still have a significant advantage. But it’s not as bad as it was. |
| Sorry. Abrar Omeish. |
