Hi OP, your husband has much more experience with soccer up to a high level of the game, so I would follow his lead. What if young had been a college level gymnast and then told your husband no gymnastics due to concussion and injury risk? Would you expect him to respect your judgment after so many years of experience?
You might also delve a little more into understanding why your husband feels the way he does. I know dads with similar backgrounds, and part of the reason they have guided their kids toward sports like squash and golf is that soccer was a sport for poor kids in their home countries. They want to give their kids a different experience after working so hard to better their circumstances. |
Young should be “you” |
+1 Rec soccer will have lots of kids who can barely pass or kick. Half of them will be there because their parents insist that they do some sport, not because they actually want to. These kinds of kids are not the least bit dangerous. The dangerous kids who kick each other too much and play too rough are in expensive travel leagues. There you will also find their crazy parents. |
