Help me choose a laptop for an engineering student

I work at a design/engineering/manufacturing company.

Only 3D surface designers and fancy execs use Apple.

The designer jeans/fancy shoe/expensive watch people.

Lenovo is the laptop of choice in university labs. I don't know of a reason behind the choice. It just is. There's always a crusty Lenovo Thinkpad sitting around engineering spaces.

Macs are fine, but you better hope someone decided to provide MacOS versions of whatever crazy software he needs. As for the Unix argument, Windows has WSL2 which is "good enough" for most things.

Look at The Framework laptops, runs both Windows and Linux great which is perfect for engineering.
