I love salmon so think that is a great idea. Other mains I’d consider in March would be lamb (not everyone is a fan I know so depends on your guests) or even simple roast chicken.
Agree with PPs that citrus is great to work into your menu - goes great with salmon and chicken, could also inspire dessert. |

I agree salmon is too fishy for some, and for this reason I would suggest cod.
But I would guess most seafood eaters do like salmon, so I think I'm an outlier! I think homemade cream of asparagus soup is delightful as a spring starter. Has the radish/butter/fleur de sel been played out? I love that as an appetizer with a small glass of champagne. |
| Leg of lamb straddles winter into spring nicely. Roast meat is wintering, lamb (especially with mint sauce) calls spring to mind. |
Same. I like every fish except for salmon. |
Really? You want OP to cook Thai food from scratch? For company? No. |
This sounds perfect because you can make most ahead… |
| Individual roast chicken halves. Serve with roasted broccolini and garlic mashed potatoes. Follow with something like a citrus salad with arugula and herbs, and goat's cheese cheesecake with a shortbread walnut crust, topped with local honey, roasted grapes and nuts. |
Really? Did she say that she cannot cook Thai? Do you know her background? Did she not say that she is a good cook? And yes, you make Thai food because you make the best, most delicious and flavorful food for company. Everything else suggested on this thread is uninspiring and yuck. Also - 10 people is a small enough group to cook any cuisine for. |

Like another poster, I came to recommend chicken pot pie - ideally individual ones but you could make a couple of larger ones. With a fresh brussels/parm/slivered almond salad in lemon vinagrette.
Another idea is chicken picatta, with sides of linguine in white wine and lemon sauce and roasted asparagus. |
| Thai food is not going to work for this dinner party. End of conversation. |
|
What about great sliced ham from D'artignan plus cold salmon with dill sauce? Or Duck confit! Keep the sides simple with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, citrus salad.
|
No smelly salmon, even cold, please! |
I like this! |

OP here and thanks all for the thoughts. Some good ideas here. I will sift through in the next week or so and let you now what I end up with.
(And on the Thai suggestion - I love Thai food and that sounds incredible, but not in my league to try something like that for a dinner group. As my DH says, Thai is a cuisine best left to the professionals!) |
Oh I love chicken picatta- and goes with the citrus theme |
