School swag, as a concept, is so horribly American. People in Europe would laugh. A bunch of idiots put their worth on their kids' schools??!! |
| Well, incredibly, this thread is aimed at a predominantly American crowd, so it seems appropriate. That said, it’s a pleasure to get your European perspective. |
Yes, it is just very sad to be in America at this juncture. |
Yes, you guys just didn't know how idiotic this whole thing is. |
Most of the independent schools here require participation in at least one (and often two) sports per year. |
All accepted students? |
| Cards and a Tshirt |
|
Buying swag from multiple schools seems over the top and a waste of money to me. I guess if you are super wealthy it does not matter.
I think we got stickers and sunglasses from NCS…. I thing major. The shirts and hat would have been nice. |
| For schools that don’t send swag, do these schools send a welcome packet in the mail? Or is it all electronic since most have accepted student events anyway? |
OP here -- this thread isn't about swag in terms of typical parent bragging swag. I was asking what school items my 4th and 6th graders might receive to make them excited about the school. Honestly, the best answer would be a stuffed animal (which would never leave their rooms). |
| Got a tie from Landon, t-shirts and random misc like pencils, stickers, or small banners from the others. Years ago when DD was accepted for LS, SR sent a tiny stuffed gator plush which was a big hit. |
That little gator was a huge hit in my house during admissions season! My daughter got one at the LS shadow visit or whatever she went to in October/November and she wanted to take it everywhere. I'm pretty sure it was a big reason she wanted to go to SR. (We ended up choosing elsewhere.) |
