I have the iconic from Amazon. About $45 and have been using it for about 3 1/2 years daily. I like it, but one feature that I wish it had would be a removable tank to more easily fill and dump. Not a big deal if you have an outlet close to the sink.

Sorry, iSonic. (why does spellcheck think it’s smarter than I am?)

My ds has one for his retainer and it's amazing and truly gets it clean.

My son and I use the $35 one off Amazon and it works great,

I used to use soap air toothpaste and my dentist said too abrasive.

I don’t put cleaning tablets in—only once a month or so do I use those.

I've seen people talking online about the ultrasonic cleaners - are they worth it? My teeth are prone to cavities (yes, I floss every day, brush multiple times per day) and I'm wondering if a deeper regular nightguard cleaning would help - I saw the ultrasonic cleaners, but wasn't sure what people's experience is.

I have a professionally made nightguard also and my dentist has advised to just wash with a very small amount of CLEAR antibacterial hand soap (the kind that comes in a pump dispenser, not a bar of soap) then shake of the water, put it back in the case (cases has some little holes for air.). Don’t brush it.
Once a week or so, soak it in a cleaner made specifically for nightguards or retainers. I use Retainer brite tablets, warm NOT hot water. Leave it set for 10 or 15 minutes, rinse, shake off excess water and put it away. Retainer Brite can be ordered directly from the company, but you have to call to place your order-it’s made in the USA.

I soak in an Efferdent tablet every morning for 15-30 minutes, rinse and place it in its case.

For my Invisalign retainers, I used to do the Efferdent (or similar) tablets every morning. About three months ago, I purchased an inexpensive ($45ish) ultrasonic cleaner from Amazon. It makes a huge difference! After a quick 5-min cycle in the morning, my retainers are so much cleaner--sparkling like new. I wish I'd purchased it a long time ago.

My dental hygienist recommended Retainer Bright tablets to clean my might guard and it does seem to work better than other things I have tried.

Soap not toothpaste?

Yeah, she said just a mild hand soap, not toothpaste.

+1 My dentist said the same.

Toothpaste is too abrasive. I just occasionally use denture cleaning tabs. I never tried ultrasonic cleanings - except one or twice in the dentist’s office.
