| i like brooks too. Use the quiz as the other poster suggested. I also went to a running store to try some on, get advice about my gait, and to measure my foot. |

It’s not true that running shoes and walking shoes are the same - the mechanics of running and walking are quite different.

Wrong. Walking shoes are designed for walking. Running shoes are designed for running. Extra support in different parts of the shoe. Different tread patterns. |
OP here - THANK YOU! This is why it's so challenging...people don't think there's a difference. But thank you to those of you who provided useful recommendations! |
Ok but literally any store that sells athletic sneakers will have walking shoes. |
I have found zero at Dick's. While technically DSW has "walking" shoes, I have found literally less than a handful and not all of those have arch support. |
| I have a hard time finding walking shoes. The best I've done is Brooks Ghost with a firm SuperFeet insole, |
|
Brooks for running, New Balance for walking
Both offer wide widths and are very comfortable to wear. |
| I love my Skechers. Don't hate on it -- many do. |
I don't hate on it. I've liked mine, too. But I find that they don't last as long as my prior Vionics, and my current Skeechers don't have arch support. |
Thanks. |

I really like my Hoka Bondis. I walk on a treadmill every other day for about 45 minutes. I also went to a running/walking store but it was really focused on running and the guy tried to sell me shoes that were 1 1/2 sizes larger than what I wear!
Anyway, I tried on several different ones at Comfort One - they have several locations. They don't carry every brand, I think they are heavy on Hoka, On Cloud, New Balance and a few others. Good luck! The right shoe is so important. |
