Worth $80 to upgrade?

I agree with this. Where are your current seats, OP?

We are somewhere over wing, but not exit row. Row 27. We’d be moving to the second row behind First.

It’s a marginal benefit but I would do it for legroom. Kids are unavoidable on that flight.

This one? Not sure I'd love being next to the bathroom. Row 27 is actually 12 rows from the back, it's not that bad (there are no rows 6-9 on this plane). Toss up but like others said, probably will have kids around you no matter where you sit because of Orlando.

Just got an email that our equipment changed to a 321neo, not sure if that matters in this context but the Comfort section is larger, but I went online to check if our seats changed and noticed that we can upgrade (three of us) to Comfort (Delta) for $80 total ($27 each ticket).

I’m assuming there won’t be a ton of kids up there? Also, a little more leg room, upgraded service, best of all, off before the main cabin. But for $80?

Would you do it? If yes, why, if no, why not?

100%. I'm frugal and on a recent trip to Hawaii, I upgraded each leg and NOW I CAN NEVER GO BACK! Do it.

Very different situation on a 10-12 hour trip to Hawaii versus a 2 hour flight to Orlando. But yes depends on the cost, can definitely be worth it at times.

What is “321neo”?

It's a narrowbody airplane type, made by Airbus.

https://www.aircraft.airbus.com/en/aircraft/a320-family/a321neo

It's basically a regular A320, stretched out to a longer size (A321), and now updated with new engines since the last generation (New Engine Option).

I upgrade whenever I can so that I have a better chance of getting overhead bin space.

Yup, that's not even in the same ballpark - $80 isn't a lot and I'd probably do it, but for 2 hours it's not a big deal

It’s also newer, thus, nicer interior—with deliberately planned First/Comfort spaces, not reconfigured from old body type in an ad hoc way.

Sure, but at this point most domestic Big 4 cabins are pretty solid- vast majority have the bigger overhead bins now, they all have at least a good streaming option to watch on a tablet, if not a seat back screen.

I think the big cabin upgrade is flying international on a 787 or A350, those are so much quieter than the previous generation of planes, really make it much more comfortable (personally).

This type of decision is not one that needs to be maximized. As soon as you start fixating on minutia like this, everything from this level on up presents as stressful. Do whatever and don't second guess.

I would upgrade to first class should be 2-300 a person max

$80 total, for all of us.

Then, yes. No brainer. Why start out vacation with a squished loud seating arrangement.
