Why would it cause stress? They were under 21. |
They broke the law and the rules of the college. They were obvious enough about it that an RA had to write them up. Trust me that no RA wants to write people up and it only happens when you're being inconsiderate to others on the floor. Did you not go to college? Everyone knows that you can get away with drinking if you are low key about it. |
Yes I went to college. And I don’t know a single person who was written up for drinking in their dorm. Nor do my DH or our friends (the parents of the girl who was written up at Boston College.) Our take is that it’s a super unusual thing to happen on a college campus. But our friends’ DD learned the hard way that BC is strict about underage drinking in their dorm dorms. For some, that’s a great thing. They or their kids prefer to be at a school where laws prohibiting underage drinking are enforced on campus, including in the dorms. For others, it’s not so great, in part because it pushes 19-20 year old kids who want to drink out of the dorms and out to the bars and clubs that accept fake IDs. |

go to free pop up concert for Tyler the Creator
go to sold out home hockey games and to sold out TD arena for the Beanpole (BC champs this year) massive party/celebration/school&city holiday for the Boston Marathon that runs the cardiac hill at the edge of campus tons of service opportunities Take the T to Boston lots of dinners at North End weekend trips to the cape and skiing *Star Market* oh and you can drink in the dorm unless and until someone reports you or someone decides to enforce the rules. they do have a fairly lenient 3 strikes -- they don't want to kick your kid out |
Your friend's daughter and her friend group did something unusual to attract attention. Kids absolutely drink in the dorm but if a complaint is lodged or kids are too loud or hanging out in the hallways or throwing things out the windows ... whatever, then you'll get written up. Which is a "minor" offense and absolutely nothing comes of it. |
| BC kids do the same thing as any white suburban high school senior |
Your certainty on this issue is truly hilarious. |
DC is a freshman and this is pretty much his extracurricular activities. |
| Party |
| Drink. |
| They go to Cambridge to hang out, go to coffee houses, hear music. Sports. |
Your naivety and ignorance are astounding. |
Kids are going to clubs with fake IDs regardless of whether they can drink in the dorm. |
It’s nice that some things don’t change! Was sharing experiences from the 90s! And yeah, getting written up means you were disruptive. Plenty of drinking in the dorms. Be considerate and nothing happens. |
