For me it is the memories of my mom and grandma making food. And then all of us enjoying it. Sometimes I helped, wasn't very good. Later on though I repeated that with my own DS. I was lucky enough with my mom that she wrote down some recipes in her own hand. I wish I had some of the complex ones from my grandmother.
For the new year, I think long noodles for longevity, dumplings, egg rolls, sticky rice cakes and sweet rice balls. |
| My mom taught me her egg roll recipe which is better than any restaurant I have ever been to and they always get eaten so quickly at parties. |
Same here. Usually I make around 300 and freeze since it's so much oil. Have you tried airfying? Does it work? |
| Depends on the country, each one has certain foods associated with holiday. If lions head is your specialty, teach her to make that. |
Nyt has a recipe for it using tofu |
great tip thx! |
Any chance you all would share? Sounds amazing. |
| The must have dish for every lunar new year celebration is a whole fish (at least in Chinese tradition). You could try to teach her that. It is not too complicated and always an impressive dish. Can do steamed, or braised. You can find some good recipes on wok of life. |
Dumplings have the wow factor! My college student made a big tray for friends this year. It was a hit! |
