That makes sense. For those students who are out-of-state for both, Michigan's cost is a little more than $30k more than GT's cost. |
yikes |
Georgia Tech is 9% residing in foreign countries (8% non-US resident/citizen), 30% out of state, 61% in state Michigan is 4% residing in foreign countries (8% non-US resident/citizen), 43% out of state, 52% in state |
Yeah, GT engineering is better and cheaper for OOS. |
| If your child is interested in automotive topics and or Motorsport then Michigan is a really strong choice |
|
Both are great options. But if there's any chance the student might drop engineering, Michigan has a greater range of very solid back up majors. Otherwise, there is no wrong answer. Students seem very happy at both schools.
A Georgia Tech engineering degree, however, really does stand out on the resume. For engineering, there isn't much that tops it these days. |
Sure it is. |

| Both programs are top 10. Michigan is a powerhouse in engineering. Don’t take rankings so literally. Decision should be based on non-academic reasons when both programs are among the best. |
| I would pick Michigan. Atlanta is too hot. Michigan is a better all around university. |
+1 There are plenty of non-academic reasons a student might prefer one or the other of these two excellent schools. |
| Michigan is the easier admit. |
