how do you "accidentally" say this word?

Racist definitely. Awful. Putting Fart in front of it....not only are you racist. You're also weird.

Yes, it’s gross on both fronts. Maybe it’s a trashy hillbilly saying.

same saying that country name makes me cringe.

“when she randomly said, "Why? It's the last one. Oh, fart n*****."

Yes that’s a really weird curse phrase
Yes she said it
Yes she regretted it
No she didn’t direct it to someone particular No she didn’t have a practice of going around and calling people this in public on the regular.
Yes the faux outrage is over the top

If it slips out of your mouth, clearly it’s a word in your vocabulary. I drop f*** all the time because it is in my vocabulary - so it slips out. Never a problem with that word. That said, we haven’t watched her in years. I thought she has a kind of messy private life? She has a kid (who is probably grown by now) but wasn’t she in the news like 10 years ago because of her ex or her boyfriend? I just remember thinking it was a tabloid-y story and akin to the Real Housewives crap, which I don’t care for

Nicole Curtis is fast becoming the most insufferable HGTV host, right up there with Alison Victoria.

She regretted saying it on camera.

Unless she has Tourette’s or a brain tumor…this is not an accident.

This was not an “accident.” This is a phrase she clearly says often in her home, and/or with her peers, and she ended up saying it at work. Out of habit.

Practiced habits are not accidents.

Dude, that word is in everyone's vocabulary. It's not in regular use for everyone, but everyone older than ten knows that word. It's in there, whether you regularly let it out of your mouth or not.

I totally agree with the decision to fire her, and I have compassion for her. My brain messes with word combinations all the time (thanks, autism!), and I've nearly landed on some offensive af combinations more than once. I don't use that word deliberately, ever, and I'm still terrified that my goofy brain is going to oops and let one fly despite my best intentions.

What she's claiming is possible. It's not enough to exonerate her; she deserves to be fired because you have to be held to a higher standard if you're speaking in public/on tv. I'm not sure she deserves to be typecast as an outright racist or someone deliberately trying to be hateful. Maybe she is and she's just lying. But I could see myself in her shoes, so I'll grant her some grace. Off the air, of course.

Who uses racial slurs accidentally?! Dumbest explanation ever. In all my life I have never said that word and would never say it accidentally.

Literally never would this happen unless you have said the world casually before. I have zero compassion for her.

+1000

We just had a kid suspended at our school for posting a Tik Tok video with a song using that word, which she mouthed while lip syncing. Someone said "do you think she did it on purpose?" And my thought was exactly the same - how do you do that ON ACCIDENT?
