How much will you be spending on summer camp this year?

My kids are 12 and 14. $10k or so, with $8k for two weeks of summer camp being the main killer.

$15,875 for 6 weeks of special education sleep away camp.

My 2 older kids only get one week of camp each. $425 for the 2weeks.

This. My kids have aged out of camps as teens but are now doing the enriching camps that are de-riching me.

So far only about $1700 for five camp weeks across two kids - we put $2000 in the FSA and there's one more camp the oldest wants to do, but summer is short this year and we've run out of weeks. I'm taking most of my annual vacation this year to visit grandparents and take them out west.

None to maybe $1000. My kids don’t really want to do camps so we just hang out, go to the pool, and do fun adventures instead. Win win because I get to spend time with them too.

About $2000 for 5 weeks. All specialty sports or music related. Camps tbat were more like $350 last year are $500 this year, I noticed a jump!

I have an only child and don't even need the childcare as I don't work summers. I don't know how "normal" working parents with full time jobs and 2-3 kids do it. Even the "cheap" YMCA and Community Center type all day camps are a lot of money over the entire summer, especially if you need before or aftercare, or need to arrange transportation help.

$575 1/2 day bball camp 2 weeks
$900 1/2 day academic camp 2 weeks
$500 summer swim team
$300 weekend sleep away camp
On the waiting list for a week long 1/2 day outdoor boys camp.
Still need to schedule: 2x/week language tutor for heritage language + maybe another week of general or sport camp.

Otherwise we will hang out at home, do instrument practice, hike, and visit family in other parts of the country. No international travel planned.

That’s great! Are you planning to visit her over the summer? I was a summer intern in NYC and it was such a wonderful experience.

One camp-aged kid. Somewhere between $540 and $900. Right now we have 4 weeks of DCDPR camp booked for $270; we'll either get off the waitlist for 2-4 more weeks or pay for a pool membership instead.

I think I did the math and it’s $7600 all in.

Care to share more specifics? I’m trying to break that down and it seems like a good deal!

4 weeks sleep away camp = 5700 (got a scholarship of 1800 off).
Title 1 summer school - free
1 week cooking camp - 299 (early bird special/group discount)

So, 6k for 1 child

Two early elementary kids. Paying a little under 7K for 7 weeks of day camps. And 2 of the weeks are DPR, which is only $135 per kid for the two week session.

It's entirely insane. I stayed home when my kids were camp-aged, and we only did a week or two for each of them, one year when they were in middle school. Just to try a coding camp.

well, it was going to be about $4000, but then my kiddo got into the DPR camp sessions. so i lose my registration fees but will pay about $80/week instead of $500 a week.

feel like i should buy a real lottery ticket tonight!
