Yes, for the bigger clubs because everyone wants to be there. If you dont want to compete for playing time, target a smaller club.

Don't fall for this snake oil. Look at the Girls ID Session thread, page #7. Someone broke down the ECNL teams by year and how many players they carry.

Only the highest age group teams in local ECNL typically carry 25-26 girls. If your 13 year old is on a team with 24 other girls she's getting ripped off. This is a greedy money grab.

Stop what? Telling the truth?

Actually, I am a parent at VRSC, and Iโ€™m not sure where some of this information is coming from. If you want accurate information, it would make more sense to email the club directly rather than relying on a thread like this.

I was at tryouts, they are stacked with top end players. I was talking to a parent who's son left NY Red Bulls to tryout at revolution. I'm not sure he's even good enough to make the team, but I wished him well.

In regards to roster size, here is what actually happens..?

4-5 players are anointed by the holy coach to play the entire game whether they make mistakes or not.

The next teir of 4-5 players get to play 3/4โ€™s of the ga,e and are then subbed.

The next teir get to play approximately half the game and then get subbed for the 4-5 players the anointed one has decided are just to pay for the players who donโ€™t pay.

When the roster grows large enough, the bottom teir leave and the ones who were subbed out for them wonder why they had to share their playing time with such weak talent who are no longer around.

If your son gets ten minutes at the end of the half, expect to find a new team soon.

Sounds like most youth soccer teams but just put more dramatically.

If you really want to play at Rev, they will take you. The roster just is not that deep from a talent standpoint. We know a bunch of the high school aged kids there and a lot of them have bounced from club to club trying to land on a top team.

Some of them show flashes of talent but they are inconsistent. They are not bad kids at all, just not at the ECNL or MLS Next level. Before anyone jumps in saying I am wrong or making things up, it is what it is. Rev is a solid regional club.

But stop with the MLS Next Homegrown branding like you are actually competing with NVA, SYC, or DCU. That is a different level. And the whole pathway to the pros angle through Loudoun United feels like a stretch when none of those kids are realistically in that conversation.

It feels like you are trying to market your way into being something bigger instead of building it the right way through fundamentals and real player development. The truth is only a few clubs consistently develop top level players. Focus on that and stay in your lane, and you would be just fine.
